See oli õnnelik aeg. Aasta 2020 algus. Alustas meedialabor Levila ja kõiges oli midagi uut ja ilusat. Minu esimene töö Levila heaks oli luua muusika taskuhäälingu sarjale “Siin Tartu”.

Sellest pidi tulema populaarteaduslik saatesari. Pop ja teaduslik. Ja tuligi, aga aasta aega pärast muusika loomist. Ja nüüd (veel kolm aastat hiljem) kuulasin muusika üle, sättisin teda natuke, lisasin mõned algselt välja jäänud teemad ning vormistasin minialbumiks.

Plaadi nime rehkendasin nii: POPular + SCIence = POPSCI

Saate autor Maarja Merivoo Parro pakkus ka lugudele endile nimesid välja: Space Water (Vesi kosmoses), Radon Guy (Radoonikutt), Church Wall Scalpel (Skalpell kirikuseinas), Night Cab (Öötakso), Peasant Painter (Talupojast maalikunstnik) jt.

Aga nimetan teemad lihtsalt järjekorranumbritega – elagu see muusika oma elu edasi kunagise sarja seosteta.

It was a happy time. Early 2020. Levila media lab was launched, and there was something new and beautiful to be found in everything. My first job for Levila was to compose the music for the podcast series "Siin Tartu (Tartu Here).”

It was going to be a popular science program. Popular and scientific. And so it was, but only a year after the music was written. And now, three years after that, I listened to the music again, made a few adjustments, added in a few themes I'd initially left out and turned it into a minialbum.

The title of the album I worked out thus: POPular + SCIence = POPSCI.

Maarja Merivoo-Parro, the host of the series, also suggested names for the songs themselves: "Space Water," "Radon Guy," "Church Wall Scalpel," "Night Cab," "Peasant Painter" et al.

But I just title the themes by serial number — let this music go on living its own life, unbound by a past series.
