“Ao” on instrumentaalne album ja koosneb 11st loost. See on valminud viimase kahe aasta jooksul. 

“Ao” sulatab uue aja vaimu, luues harmoonilise koosluse ambientse õhulisuse, kammerliku intiimsuse, klassikalise muusika sügavuse ja tundliku helidega eksperimenteerimise vahel. 

Lood on albumil täpselt sellises järjekorras nagu nad valmisid – iga järgnev järgis eelneva kulgu, võttis kaasa midagi eelmisest, aga lõi ka uue, iseseisva maailma. Soov oli luua albumile sel korral terviklik ja ühtne helipilt. Sellest lähtuvalt ka piiritlesin instrumentide hulka. Väikeste erinevustega on instrumendid loost loosse samad. Siin on palju akustilist kitarri ja bassi, mida alguses plaanisin kasutada vaid paari loo puhul, aga lõpuks ujutasid need terve albumi üle. 

Kasutasin albumil 1960. aastast pärit mustlaskitarri. See kõlas ka minu 10 aastat tagasi ilmunud albumil “Triiviv“, aga siis jäi seisma. Nüüd võlus selle lihtsus ja kõla mind taas. Kõigi lugude algus ja alus sai tehtud klaveriga, mis on selle albumi teine oluline komponent. Kõik instrumendid – nii virtuaalsed kui päris pillid mängisin “Aol“  ise sisse, täpselt nii hästi või halvasti kui oskasin. Täiuseiha alla surudes jätsin sisse ka mõned elusast esitusest tingitud konarused. Sest kuigi olen need ise varem tihti üle lihvinud, on teiste artistide kuulamisel need mulle tegelikult meeldinud. 

Nii nagu on seotud “Ao” lood muusikaliselt, on seotud ka nende nimed, mis kokku moodustavad albumit iseloomustavad read:

"Ao" is an instrumental album with 11 tracks, written over the past two years.

"Ao" thaws the spirit of a new era, creating a harmonious combination between ambient airiness, chamber-like intimacy, the depth of classical music and sensitive experimentation with sounds.

The tracks on this album are sequenced in the exact order in which they were written, with each successive track following the course of the preceding one, taking something along with it from the previous one while also creating a new and independent world. This time, I wanted the album to have a comprehensive and coherent sound. Thus, I limited the number of instruments as well; with minor differences, the instruments are the same from song to song. There's a lot of acoustic guitar and bass here, which I had originally planned to use for just a couple of songs but ended up flooding the entire album.

Used by me on the album was a guitar from 1960. It was also featured on my album "Triiviv" ("Drifting"), released ten years ago, but after that it stood unused; now I was charmed by its simplicity and sound all over again. The beginning and basis of each track was done on the piano, which is the other major component of this album. I played all of the instruments on "Ao" myself, both virtual and real, just as well or as badly as I knew how. Suppressing my perfectionism, I also left in some of the rough spots that arose from live performance — because while I myself have often previously cleaned them up, I've actually liked them when listening to other artists.

Just as the tracks on "Ao" are connected musically, so are their titles, which together form these album-characterizing lines:

esimene helk kaob, — the first glow disappears,
hämarus laotub laiali, — dusk spreads out,
täht jääb, kuma haihtub, — a star remains, the glow fades,
aovalge tuleb taas — first light will come again
